Hi, I'm hairstylist, Amanda Shackleton from Amandashackleton.com, and today I'm here to show you how to fake a Mohawk if you have very long hair. The first thing that you want to do is section off the front of the hair that's about five inches on the top, a straight section back all the way to the crown and a straight section back onto the other side. Go ahead and clip that hair up. We're going to come back to that hair and use that later. Next what we want to do is take some kind of pomade or silicone, something that's really got some nice sleekness to it and go ahead and pull the sides as tightly back as we can and with a soft bristled brush, go ahead and just smooth it down and then take your elastic band and tie that into a really really tight ponytail. It's really got to be tight, the sides have to be kept very very tight or it won't look correct. So once we do that I'm going to go ahead and try to get it around one more time, that's not working, anyway, we'll just go ahead and give it a nice pull like that, that will help to tighten the sides and now we're ready to do the front. So I've gone ahead and pre-teased the top. This is the most important part of doing the Mohawk because this is really the party that gives the style its name. So I just took small sections, I did a really nice big, big, big, big tease, don't be afraid to really go crazy because you have to have a lot of height here in order to get the top to look correct. Let me finish off this front piece and then all we do is with our comb, just very lightly direction it back, go ahead and take those pieces, make sure the front is even. You don't want one side to be higher than the other, push the hair forward a little bit, bring it out and then just go ahead and pin the back of the hair in just like that. I'll take a little bit of hairspray, we'll spray it, get the sides down and then you can really choose what you want to do with the back of this hairstyle. You can leave it in a cute little ponytail like that or you can take it and kind of twist it up into a knot. It really just depends on what you want to do with it but the front is the main focus of this hairstyle so you want to make sure that you go ahead and give it a lot of nice height on the top. So I'm Amanda Shackleton and I've shown you how to do a Mohawk with long hair.
