How to Prevent and Stop Oily Skin

Oily skin can cause of number of facial skin problems, including blackheads, acne and dryness. If you have naturally oily skin, you can help treat the problem and avoid having a shiny face most of the time. It will just take a little work so you can instill the right habits. Cleanse your face nightly and in the morning. By removing makeup and everyday dirt, you will help keep your skin naturally moisturized and healthy. Use a gentle cleanser. Those that contain salicylic acid or glycolic acid will cut down on oiliness.

Avoid more oil by using oil-free moisturizers. Use water-based foundations instead of oil-based formulas. Any oil-based foundation is going to ultimately create more oil. Look at the ingredients list for moisturizers to make sure the product you buy is oil-free. In addition, use a skin toner on oily areas of your face.

Relax. Stress can induce problem skin by causing breakouts and blemishes. If you have too much to deal with, don't fret. Instead, try to take at least five to 10 minutes out of your day to relax in a hot bath or read a good book. Give your body and skin a time of rest and recuperation.

If you don't get enough fluid to your skin, it will dry out; this might produce more oil and breakouts on your face because your skin will work twice as hard to make up for lost hydration.
